Mud devil?

Cleaning an ATB a sustainable and efficient way

There’s nothing like a ride on your ATB on a sunny autumn day, trudging through the mud, riding on forest trails or climbing steep slopes. But that’s also how your expensive material gets a really hard time and chances are you’re completely covered in mud afterwards. So regularly cleaning an ATB is an absolute must! But what’s the most efficient way to clean it? We recommend cleaning your ATB after every ride. It increases the lifespan of your ATB considerably and prevents unnecessary repairs. Cleaning doesn’t need to take a lot of time. Find out how to clean your ATB so as to keep your material in a optimal state!

Material:

  • Bucket of water
  • Feem Active Cleaner
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Soft brush
  • Sponges
  • Dry cloth

Step 1 – Start with water

Spray water over your ATB as soon as you come home after the ride, even if the weather is dry. The dirt gets off better that way. Make sure mud and dirt don’t get a chance to dry. Don’t use a high-pressure cleaner or too strong a water jet, as this can damage your bicycle.

Step 2 – Make some soapy water with Feem Active Cleaner

Fill the bucket with lukewarm water and add 5% Feem Active Cleaner. Don’t use washing-up liquid, which damages your bicycle. Take a sponge and rub the soapy water on your bike. Let it soak in for some minutes so Feem Active Cleaner can do its job.

Step 3 – Rinse and dry A.T.B.

Rinse your ATB with enough water afterwards to avoid residue. Use a dry cloth to dry all moist parts. You can also dry your ATB with air. When parts stay moist, they can get damaged and won’t function properly anymore. A moist brake makes a piping sound, so make sure you dry your brakes well.

Step 4 – Dissemble your chain and gearbox

Once in a while, it’s useful to disassemble your chain and gearbox and clean them individually. To clean them thoroughly, put them in a tray half-filled with water and half-filled with Feem Active Cleaner. This will allow you to clean the dirt and grease from in between the chain links.

PS: Feem Active Cleaner is useful for getting rid of the mud on your ATB, but you can also use it to remove the dirt on your sportswear.
