First dusting, then vacuuming

Say goodbye to dust

Vacuuming doesn’t rank high among people’s favourite cleaning tasks. Still, it’s important to get the vacuum cleaner out after you’ve dusted to remove all remaining dust. Also, don’t forget to vacuum places you can’t reach very well: e.g. under the bed, the chairs, the couch and in corners.

For the correct posture and technique during vacuuming, read here.

Required items:

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Vacuum cleaning bags
  • Accessories

Method:

  1. Clean up the room before you start vacuuming, remove as many loose objects as possible from the floor.
  2. Get the vacuum cleaner out and check if the bag isn’t too full. Change it if necessary.
  3. Adapt the rod to the right length (to know the right length, read here).
  4. Fully unroll the cord of the vacuum cleaner and put the plug in the socket. If you don’t unroll the cord completely, it can become too hot and get dangerous.
  5. Figure out a route where you don’t need to go back and forth too often.
  6. Always work your way to the door.
  7. Vacuum one strip at a time and then proceed to another one all the while making sure to overlap strips as much as possible. Don’t move too fast, let the vacuum cleaner do the job.
  8. Remove fluff and hair on the brush before putting the vacuum cleaner away.
  9. Put all removed objects back where they were.
